Dwayne Verheyden

He may be young but Dwayne Verheyden can give the best accordionists a run for their money. Born and raised in Montfort, Limburg, The Netherlands in 1991, Dwayne grew up listening to the music of his idol, Flaco Jimenez! He started playing at the age of seven and had his first TV appearance at the age of eight. In November 2007, Dwayne won The Sjeng Award that is awarded to prospective/talented accordion players in Limburg.

In June of 2008, Dwayne got the opportunity to play on stage with his idol when Flaco was touring Europe. The bond of friendship was set! At the 2010 Tejano Conjunto Festival in San Antonio, Dwayne and his band, The TexMeXplosion, brought the house down with their array of  TexMex songs, Blues, and County and other genres! Later that night and to the crowd's delight, Dwayne got a second opportunity to sing on stage with Flaco.

Dwayne took advantage of his trip to Texas to work on his first CD and Flaco was there to not only participate but to give him advice. As Flaco told San Antonio Street Talk, an online magazine, "...when asked about whom he felt would be able to fill his shoes, Flaco said "There are many imitators and sound-a-likes, but none can compare to Dwayne Verheyden; and he's from the Netherlands...."
